This little newborn’s portraits are a memory that her parents will treasure for a lifetime. Anna and her husband were overjoyed to become parents, and believe that Issa, their baby-girl, has already understood so much about the world from inside the womb. They believe that babies have consciousness before they are born and tried communicating with their precious baby throughout the pregnancy. They have even allowed her to help them make decisions as a family. Her parents were proud of her from the moment she was brought into this world.
Babies have consciousness before they are born
"I could still remember the moment I found out that I was pregnant, my brows raised and there was a big smile on my face. The rest of that day my husband and I, filled with excitement and nervousness, have been busy sharing the great news - A beautiful soul has chosen us to be her parents.
Inspired by several Japanese prenatal memories (or fetal memory) books, we strongly believe that babies have their consciousness before they are born. We also believe that Issa has feelings and could “see” what we saw while she was in my tummy. Since day one, we have started talking and trying to build a connection with her.
During my pregnancy, we have also travelled to national parks and beaches, hosted mini gatherings one after another to celebrate the blessing. We would describe the joyful experience/sceneries we had to Issa. We would sing and listen to music that we love, tell her our love story with laughers. From picking her delivery hospital to picking her name, we would ask for her opinion before we make a decision. Believe it or not, we were able to communicate through her kicks. My husband and I tried our best to stay chill during these nine months of expecting.
Thanks to Issa, my pregnancy and labor were smooth. During my third trimester, I told Issa more about the birth process, kept describing what she would see when she was born. I was trying to get her well prepared to enter this exciting world. I asked Issa to stay strong and brave, and please help mama by making the labor process shorter. Our first family teamwork was excellent.
As planned with Issa, I gave birth to her without pain management medication. Labor was surprisingly short. We were in such a hurry that the nurses taught me how to push while I was already naturally pushing.
After 231 days, she was placed on my chest. Finally we can see each other. Issa was calm. This time she put a smile on everyone’s face in the delivery room. She made me proud. She glows.
My husband and I want to thank Ani for capturing great photos of such temporary stage of Issa. I believe Issa would love it too."
