One of the requests that Emily's parents had, was to capture their newborn baby-girl in a photograph that would tell her birth story. Something that would have her date of birth, the time, the weight at which she was born, and the height. You may be familiar with this concept. It is very popular now for newborn portraits. Often the information is added in post-processing, or photographers get creative finding objects that would represent each piece of information. I challenged myself by choosing the second rout to take the idea a little further. It took some time finding the objects that would work well together, but it was worth it. The most challenging was the scale. It is very old. I found it at a vintage store.

 

I am very happy with how this photograph came together. I think it tells Emily's birth story beautifully, and she looks so adorable curled up on top of that scale.
