Keila’s maternity portraits encapsulate the love and connection that she and her husband already share with their baby. They met when they were five. Even from such a young age, he knew that they were meant to be. As many know, life can be unexpected, but what is meant to be, will be. This family is a beautiful representation of how powerful a life long connection can truly be. They are now welcoming their son into the world as they navigate parenthood as a united, loving family.
God has a plan
"Since we were five years old, my husband and I have known each other. My husband had a crush on me and he would tell his parents, I will marry Keila one day. We started dating in high school and somewhat of college. We got back together about five years after breaking up and married two years after getting together. Getting pregnant and having a child meant the world to us. We always wanted children. My husband especially wanted a baby boy.
I realized I was going to have a baby when I was four weeks pregnant, right before I missed my period. We were trying for a baby, but I didn’t think it would happen, and when I took an early pregnancy test and saw the two marks, I couldn’t believe it. I was shocked that we got pregnant! It was a total surprise! We started trying, and my mindset was not to stress about getting pregnant, and it happened!
I revealed it to my husband the moment he got home; I couldn’t hold it in. I showed him the pregnancy test. He was beyond thrilled. With my family, we told them we got their gifts from Disneyland to throw them off. We gave the grandparents mugs that stated “grandparents 2022”. My mom got a mug, Mom Est. 1991 Grandma Est. 2022 and Dad Est. 1991 Grandpa Est. 2022.
Thankfully, everything has gone smoothly, and I have had a healthy pregnancy. The most difficult challenges I have faced are the aches, pains, and sickness that comes with pregnancy. I have managed them by just understanding my body is going through a lot to make a human. I have prayed over my children every single day since I got pregnant and prayed for peace, good health, and joy over him. Pregnancy has given me an understanding that God has a plan and not to worry or stress about the little things. We have learned to be more hands-on with each other and supportive. My husband had to take in more tasks due to pregnancy. We learned that it is a team effort, and there is nothing to worry about God on our side.
When I found out I was pregnant, I already had so much love and care for the baby. The moment I found out the gender, the love got more profound, and I could connect with him and speak to him. Knowing I have a little one in my womb brings me joy. Allowing my body to create a human is such a beautiful and joyful blessing. I am nervous about childbirth and motherhood. All I pray for is God’s guidance, peace, and direction in raising a child. I can always look back at these maternity photos and see how I looked when I was pregnant with our first child."
